The Best Ways to Naturally Boost Your Energy Levels

The Best Ways to Naturally Boost Your Energy Levels

Given the hectic lifestyles we live these days, the stresses, increased workloads and responsibilities, and on and on, it is little wonder we run out of energy and sometimes need help. There are many factors to why we get tired or exhausted, or just plain run out of energy. We are going to look at the ones we can immediately do something about and the best ways to quickly boost energy levels.

The smart thing to do to first is to eliminate as many factors as possible. It's a reductive process until we know what's causing low energy levels, lethargy, tiredness or such. Let's lay out the simplest and smartest choices we can make. Once you have reached a good baseline for health, then you can figure out what, if anything, needs to be done to get your energy levels back up and optimize performance.

The following recommendations are uncontroversial and widely advocated (in no particular order.)

Naturally curing tiredness & boosting energy levels:

* Stop drinking sodas or sugar drinks. The pH of soda is around 2 and contains ridiculously large amounts of sugar. When the body's ph is too acidic, it fosters a breeding ground for bacteria, fungus & viruses, and robs you of natural energy. We won't rehash the dangers of sugar in a healthy diet, but suffice it to say that while sugar gives you instant energy, it will only make you more tired in the end.  Even sugar-replacement / diet soda has been shown to increase appetite and bloating, so try to avoid all such drinks. Look for sparkling flavored waters to satisfy the soda need.

* Eat biologically healthy and active foods for optimal health and energy. No processed foods! Eat fruits and vegetables with your meals for more natural energy. The good carbohydrates along with the fiber will give you a boost without an insulin spike or a crash afterwards.

* Eat some protein with your meal. One of the most important ways to keep your blood sugar balanced and energy levels high is to include protein in a meal. There are lots of good proteins like nuts, seeds, eggs, fatty fish, beans and other legumes to supply energy. This is also especially helpful if you are consuming simple carbohydrates. * Make sure you're getting enough key nutrients, such as carnitine, CoQ10, magnesium, B-complex, C, DMAE,  and Omega 3 for optimal energy and health levels.

* Check for food intolerances or allergies. Most people with low grade food allergies and sensitivities are unaware of them because the symptoms are subtle. Low energy and difficulty losing weight are two common results of food allergies.

* Check for yeast overgrowth in the intestines. Gas, bloating, and carbohydrate / sugar cravings are often caused by yeast growth which in turn causes low energy levels.

* Exercise at least 20 minutes a day. It's as easy as a walk around the block. Getting up and moving when you’re tired can actually boost energy levels. A University of Georgia study found that people who did a low-intensity aerobic activity (like a brisk walk) three times a week had a greater reduction in fatigue levels than people who did higher intensity workouts for the same amount of time. The study showed that regular exercise generally boosted energy levels by 20%. Try to get your heart rate up, but even a vigorous walk is highly beneficial. Just don't exercise too close to bed time.

* Sleep around 7 hours a night, but avoid sleeping more than 8 hours. And sleep at the same time each night, always in a dark, quiet, and restful bedroom ambience.

* Surround yourself with the right kind of energy. Find positive and supportive people to associate with. This will help a great deal with your own energy levels.

* Music is energy too and is a fast way to get stimulated and motivated. When you need a quick pick-me-up, play whatever up-beat song that makes you feel happy and energized. Think Rocky's "Eye of the Tiger." This is one of the most effective methods for an instant energy boost.

* Take short breaks throughout the day. Get up regularly and take a small walk or stretch. These breaks are simple ways to help you re-focus and re-energize.

* Make sure you do not have any medical conditions that can cause fatigue. Check for low thyroid function, low or high iron (hemochromatosis) levels, fibromyalgia, and other ailments or conditions which can be determined by blood tests. You'd be surprised at how dietary issues alone can cause energy production issues.

* Take a healthy energy supplement instead of coffee, soda and shots. Energy pills are a smart alternative because they contain no calories and can be highly dosage-controlled for optimum effect. Not all energy pills are the same, so look for a reputable company that makes a quality formula with a long history of satisfied customers.

So before you take any drastic measures to increase or boost your daily energy levels, try these simple and easy solutions to tiredness or fatigue and get your body humming and ready to perform at optimal level.
